Typically when the "Auto Level Failure" error appears it's either a result of the trailer being on uneven ground or the Zero Point simply needs to be reset.
If you find that the trailer is on unlevel ground simply move it to a different location and this should hopefully resolve the issue. Otherwise you will just need to reset the Zero Point on the system, which is essentially the programmed point that the trailer will return to when using the Auto Level function.

Typically for replacing Venture brand landing gear on a trailer the Stromberg Carlson landing gear set part # LG-183708 is all that's needed and normally bolts right up. The dimension you listed is very unusual especially for a Venture brand of landing gear. Worst case scenario though you can move the brackets on your trailer or use the ones that come with this kit so that it matches properly. There aren't any companies making spacers or cover plates so you'd have to get a residential cover plate from your local hardware store and cut it down to fit. You do have to be careful though that you don't go too thick with the cover plate so you can still stay within the 1-1/2" maximum door thickness of the Global Link RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit # 295-000021. You'll also want to use a bit of sealant around the cover plate edge to prevent any water from leaking in.
